Who Are We?
Human Compass is a professional theatre / media company based in Driffield,
The education department is called 'Hands on Human Compass' Because we want everyone to have the chance to have a a go, and get their hands on doing activites that you might not normally have the chance to take part in. We know that doing art activities is good for you, both physically and mentally. We also know what a great way it is for you to meet friends and have fun!
The facilitators are all highly trained and experienced, insured, CRB checked and a lot of fun!

| Playing Games! | A session of old and new drama games and execersises! We look at the 'tools of the actor' as our starting point and use games an excersises to develop these skills with the participants. | 1 1/2 hours - 1 day |
| Acting Up! | A Session of Drama games, taking further the ideas used in 'Playing Games' we look a little more closely about what it is to be an actor. We play games and use excersises which explore the actors tools | 1 day + |
| IMPROVE IMPROV! | Does the thought of improvising scary you silly? Can't think of any ideas? Well this day will get you up on your feet and thinking, we play games, do excercises and just have the chance to have a go! | 1/2 day + |
| A Play in a day! | In the morning we play lots of games and work on lots of excersies to get those creative juices flowing ... then in the afternoon we guide you through creating a play which is performed at the end of the days session! | 1 day + |
| Just do what it says on the page! | We learn how to work through scripts - as an actor - work on your character or As a Director - your vision for the piece. | 2 hours + |
| Shakin' Shakespeare! | Think you can do better than the Bard? Well now's your chance!We work with the stories of Shakespeare but devise around the themes - maybe giving the plays a makeover - but at all times '..the play's the thing'! | 1/2 day + |
| Seriously Amazing Shakespeare! | Willy didn't write the plays so you could sit in a clasroom, behind your desk being bored silly by them...he wrote his plays for people to act and for an audience (from the 'groundlings'...the poor people on the floor of the theatre, to the Richest of the Rich..the Queen!). So we look at the scripts that Shakespeare wrote and have a play around with how we take the characters and the action from the page to the stage! | 1/2 day + |
| Just Clowning Around! | A Day of playing games and learning about clowning! How to do a 'pratt' or 'Domino' fall safely, create clowning sketches and how to release your inner clown! | 1 day+ |
We'll help you make a film in a few days or longer!Go through the process of organising, filming, directing and editiong your film! 1/2 day + Media Workshops Workshop Title Workshop Description Workshop Length Shhh...It's a silent movie! Just clowning around for the camera! We play lots of exciting games, learn how to fall safely and look at how the ground breaking film makers created flms at the beginning of the movie industry! 1/2day+ Acting for the Camera Learn some of the tips and tricks our favourite TV shows are made by doing it yourself! At the end of the course you'll have had chance to act in your own TV show! 2 hours+ TV presenter Learn some of the tricks of the trade and devise your own 'as-live' TV programme! 2 hours + Radio Drama! Sound effects, voices and mysetery! Make your own radio drama- play with sound effects to create the atmosphere, use your voice to create your character and devise your very own radio drama script! 2 hours + Film making
